Filmfestival Black International Cinema Berlin

Die 32. Ausgabe des Black International Cinema Berlin 2017 befasst sich mit "A Complexion Change", ein historisch bedeutsames Teilen von menschlichen Beiträgen, die an Gesellschaften weltweit und innerhalb dieser geleistet werden.
"I know a way exists..." versucht, konstruktive Ansätze zu diesen geschichtlichen Entwicklungen zu leisten und gleichzeitig friedliche Mittel für die Anpassung jeder Gesellschaft an ihre neuen Welten zu schaffen.

Auf dem Festival werden Filme aus Afrika, der afrikanischen Diaspora und Beiträge mit interkultureller und internationaler Thematik gezeigt. Zum größten Teil sind es unabhängige Produktionen, die in Deutschland nur auf dem Black International Cinema Berlin zu sehen sind. Die Filme, darunter kurze und lange Spielfilme, Dokumentationen und experimentelle Filme, kommen in diesem Jahr aus Sierra Leone, Äthiopien, Italien, USA, Deutschland, Brasilien, Frankreich, Slovenien, Österreich, Pakistan, Madagaskar, Belgien, Portugal und Kolumbien.

Die visuelle Präsentation "Footprints in the Sand?" Exhibition Berlin 2017, Rickys Bücherstand mit mehr als 200 Buchtiteln internationaler Schwarzer AutorInnen und die Seminare “So, you wanna make a documentary?” mit Prof. Ken Wyatt und “Is Donald Trump the Thilo Sarrazin of the USA?” mit Alinka Seth widmen sich "I know a way exists..." durch Literatur, künstlerischen Ausdruck und zum Nachdenken anregenden Diskurs.

Die Veranstaltung bietet in einer respektvollen Atmosphäre die Möglichkeit, in Welten zu reisen, die einem oftmals verschlossen bleiben. Diese Einblicke und die Möglichkeit des kulturellen und künstlerischen Austausches sind ein wertvoller Schatz im Hinblick auf die Bemühungen um ein besseres Verständnis, wachsende Kooperation und ein konstruktives Zusammenleben in unserer sich wandelnden Gesellschaft.

During May 12-14, 2017 at the Haus der Demokratie und Menschenrechte, a number of filmmakers are displaying their means of demonstrating through visual arts, how they “know a way exists.”

The 32nd edition of the Black International Cinema Berlin 2017 addresses “A Complexion Change” a historical sharing of human contributions to and within many world societies.
“I know a way exists...” seeks to contribute constructive approaches to these historical developments, while also creating peaceful means toward each society's adaptation to their new worlds.

During the festival, films from Africa, the African Diaspora and contributions with intercultural and international issues are presented. The majority of the films are independent productions which in Germany may only be screened at the Black International Cinema Berlin. The films, including short and long narratives, documentaries and experimental films arriving this year from Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Italy, USA, Germany, Brazil, France, Slovenia, Austria, Pakistan, Madagascar, Belgium, Portugal und Colombia.

Our event offers in a respectful atmosphere the opportunity to travel to places, which are often inaccessible to us. These insights and the possibility of cultural and artistic exchange are a valuable treasure in regards to our efforts to achieve increased understanding, growing cooperation and constructive coexistence in our changing societies.
